Amelia Community Theatre’s production of "The Addams Family Musical" continues through Oct. 31 at 207 Cedar Street in Fernandina Beach.
The show, which opened Oct. 15 at ACT's 207 Cedar Street stage, puts the famously macabre Addams clan in unfamiliar territory. Wednesday Addams has grown up and fallen for Lucas Beineke, a young man from what ACT's website describes as a strait-laced Ohio family. She confides in her father, Gomez, and asks him to keep the relationship secret from Morticia.
When Wednesday invites Lucas and his parents to dinner at the Addams home, secrets spill and the two families collide. The show is rated for general audiences.
Shea Zaccaro and Heather Starling direct the production, according to the Fernandina Observer. Joe Zaccaro plays Gomez, Haley Vonnoh plays Morticia and Karina Jimenez takes on the role of Wednesday. Emme Lucas plays Pugsley, Geoffrey Moss plays Uncle Fester, Judy Tipton plays Grandma and Bob O'Hara plays Lurch. Craig Wickless, Sophia Loveday and Anthony Rodriguez round out the Beineke family as Mal, Alice and Lucas. An ensemble of Addams ancestors completes the cast.
The musical features music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, based on characters created by Charles Addams.
Evening performances are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The show returns Oct. 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. Matinees are set for Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m., with a final matinee Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are available at ameliacommunitytheatre.org or by calling 904-261-6749. The box office is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 90 minutes before each performance.
Coming up at ACT: "How the Big Band Stole Christmas" runs Dec. 18-20.
