The public parking lot at Fourth and Ash Streets in downtown Fernandina Beach closes Tuesday, Oct. 20, through Thursday, Oct. 22, for milling and paving work.

Barricades and signs will mark the closure, according to a notice from the city posted by communications officer Sabrina Robertson. The notice asks drivers to use alternate parking but does not specify which lots.

The Fourth and Ash lot sits within the city's paid parking zone. Several other city-owned surface lots are nearby, according to the city's parking page:

  • S. 2nd Street at Ash Street, across from City Hall
  • City Hall lot at S. 2nd Street and Ash Street (weekdays after 5 p.m. and all day on weekends)
  • N. 2nd Street at Alachua Street
  • N. 3rd Street at Alachua Street
  • N. 5th Street between Centre Street and Alachua Street

The city has issued a notice of termination to its parking operator, One Parking. Nov. 18 will be the final day of the paid parking program, according to the city's website.
