Jacksonville playwright Jason Woods brings new book to Fernandina

Jacksonville playwright Jason Woods will celebrate his new illustrated children's book, "The Little Toy Shoppe," with a release party Sunday, Nov. 1, at Story & Song Center for Arts & Culture in Fernandina Beach.

The event runs from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at 1430 Park Ave. Tickets cost $35 and include a presentation, a signed copy of the book and refreshments, according to Story & Song. Additional copies will be available for $29.95.

The book is also available for purchase through Bellalore Press.

Woods is no stranger to Amelia Island audiences. The Fernandina Observer described him as "beloved on Amelia Island for his appearances at Dickens on Centre and his performances of Bing! at Story & Song."

A story about belonging

"The Little Toy Shoppe" follows four leftover toys in an abandoned toy shop who hope to be chosen by children and find a family. As days turn into weeks and months, the toys wonder whether they will ever be accepted for who they are.

The Fernandina Observer reported that the book is bound in emerald cloth with gold foil detailing, black end sheets and black-and-white illustrations.

Woods is also known for his theatrical work, including "Bing!," which was performed Off Broadway. His production company website highlights his stage productions and original music.
