Jefferson Starship and John Waite brought Mocama Beer Company’s new concert series to Fernandina Beach on Saturday, Oct. 17, with an outdoor show at the brewery on South Eighth Street.
The News-Leader’s post-concert report confirms Jefferson Starship performed at Mocama. The brewery’s official concert listing describes the show with John Waite as a co-headlining bill at 629 S. Eighth St.
First Port City Bank presented the concert, with additional support from Barefoot Amelia, Ullman Wealth Partners and SoundExchange, according to Mocama’s announcement published by the Nassau County Chamber of Commerce. The brewery planned to use its front lot as an outdoor music venue and make the concert the first in an ongoing series of national touring acts.
Before the show, Mocama co-owner Andrew Batey told the Fernandina Observer that the aim was to bring residents concerts they might otherwise travel to larger cities to see.
“Bringing artists like Jefferson Starship and John Waite to Amelia Island is the next evolution of that,” Batey said.
Jefferson Starship’s catalog includes “Jane,” “Miracles,” “Find Your Way Back” and “Count on Me.” Waite is known for his solo hit “Missing You” and his work with The Babys and Bad English, according to the concert announcement.
Marshall Tucker Band booked for November
The series already has another date on the calendar. Mocama’s official website lists The Marshall Tucker Band for Saturday, Nov. 21, with doors at 5:30 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m.
That concert is also scheduled outdoors at the brewery. Tickets and current event information are available through Mocama’s concert-series page.
