Nassau County voters can cast early ballots at any of five polling sites starting Thursday, Oct. 22, ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
Polls open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. every day for 10 consecutive days through Saturday, Oct. 31, including both weekends, according to Supervisor of Elections Janet Adkins, as first reported by the Fernandina Observer.
Any registered county voter can use any site.
The five early voting locations, according to the Miami Herald, are:
- Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center, 2500 Atlantic Ave., Fernandina Beach
- Hilliard Community Center, 37177 Pecan St., Hilliard
- James S. Page Governmental Complex, 96135 Nassau Place, Yulee
- Walter Junior Boatright County Building, 45401 N. Mickler St., Callahan
- Yulee Sports Complex, 86142 Goodbread Road, Yulee
That flexibility disappears on Election Day. On Nov. 3, voters must report to their assigned precinct polling place.
What to bring
Voters need a photo ID that also includes a signature. Acceptable forms include a Florida driver's license, Florida ID card, U.S. passport, military ID, student ID, debit or credit card and government employee ID, according to the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections website. If a photo ID lacks a signature, a second ID with a signature is required.
Voters who arrive without proper ID can cast a provisional ballot. The Nassau County Canvassing Board will then determine whether it meets legal requirements to be counted.
Mail ballot deadline
Thursday, Oct. 22, is also the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot. Requests must reach the Supervisor of Elections Office by 5 p.m.
Completed mail ballots must arrive at the office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted, with limited exceptions under state law. Voters can also drop off mail ballots at early voting sites during voting hours.
The voter registration deadline for this election was Oct. 5. Residents who missed it cannot vote on Nov. 3.
In September, Adkins encouraged voters to "Make a Plan to Vote" by choosing the method that works best for them. The elections office also recommends bringing a marked sample ballot to the polling site to speed up the process.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Precinct polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters can check their registration, review sample ballots and find polling information at votenassaufl.gov. The elections office can be reached at 904-491-7500.
