Nassau County voters can start casting ballots in person on Thursday, Oct. 22, 12 days before the Nov. 3 general election.
Early voting runs through Saturday, Oct. 31, with polls open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections office. The county is opening two days ahead of Florida's mandatory early voting window, which begins Saturday, Oct. 24.
Unlike Election Day, early voters can use any open early voting site in Nassau County. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, voters must go to their assigned precinct. Election Day polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters need a valid photo ID with a signature. Acceptable forms include a Florida driver's license, U.S. passport, military ID, student ID or debit or credit card. Those without proper ID can cast a provisional ballot.
What's on the ballot
The Fernandina Beach mayoral race tops the local ballot. Commissioners Genece Minshew and Timothy Poynter are the two candidates, Florida Politics reported. Under the city charter, the mayor is elected at-large, with the top vote-getter winning the seat.
Both candidates survived a failed recall effort tied to the city's paid parking program. A Nassau County judge blocked that recall, according to the Fernandina Observer.
Statewide, Florida Amendment 3 would increase the homestead exemption for non-school taxes to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028. It needs 60% approval to pass. The amendment would also cut the annual cap on assessment increases for non-homestead properties from 10% to 5%, according to a Nassau County Property Appraiser summary.
The Nassau County School District millage referendum is also on the ballot. It asks whether the district should continue levying up to 1 mill annually to fund teacher retention, fine arts, athletics and school safety.
Before you vote
The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is also Oct. 22, the same day early voting begins, according to the Jacksonville.com voter guide.
