Fernandina Beach High School's girls swim team won eight of 11 events at a Thursday, Oct. 1, meet at Tocoi Creek, continuing a strong start to the fall season.

Head coach Bill Stewart highlighted performances by Belen Conley, Rileigh Revere, Skylar Revere and Michael Tarzia, according to the Fernandina Beach News-Leader.

Tarzia competes on the boys team, while the other three swimmers were among those recognized for the girls team's performance.

Complete event results, individual times and final team scores from the meet were not available in the published report.

Pirates build momentum through fall season

The Tocoi Creek meet followed a series of strong performances by Fernandina Beach swimmers.

The Pirates opened their season Aug. 27 against Yulee, West Nassau and Hilliard at the Atlantic Recreation Center in Fernandina Beach.

Fernandina Beach swimmers claimed 19 of 22 first-place finishes across the girls and boys competitions, establishing an early foundation for the season.

The team then traveled to Ponte Vedra Beach for the Frank Holleman Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Fernandina Beach was the only Nassau County school competing in the invitational, which featured several established Northeast Florida swimming programs.

Stewart described the competition as an opportunity for his athletes to test themselves against stronger regional opponents.

The Pirates also competed against Yulee and Bishop Kenny on Sept. 24, although complete results from that meet were not available.

Rileigh Revere leads individual performances

Senior Rileigh Revere has been among Fernandina Beach's leading swimmers this season.

At the Aug. 27 season opener, Revere won the girls 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 1.84 seconds and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.72.

Her performances earned her a nomination for the Florida Times-Union's Girls Athlete of the Week.

Revere also won the 100-yard backstroke at the Frank Holleman Invitational on Sept. 19, finishing in 59.52 seconds against a competitive regional field.

Skylar Revere has contributed strong performances in distance freestyle events, while Tarzia has been among the boys team's individual event winners.

The Pirates' results across multiple meets have demonstrated depth in both individual races and relay events.

State swimming championships scheduled for November

Fernandina Beach's swimmers will continue preparing for postseason competition as the Florida High School Athletic Association's swimming and diving championships approach.

The FHSAA state championships are scheduled at the Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training facility in Ocala.

Classes 3A and 4A will compete Nov. 6-7, followed by Classes 1A and 2A on Nov. 13-14.

The association has published its 2026-27 swimming classifications, although Fernandina Beach's specific assignment was not independently confirmed for this report.

For the Pirates, the remaining regular-season and postseason meets will provide opportunities to build on their early results and pursue state championship qualification.
