Trinity United Methodist Church opened its annual pumpkin patch on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 715 Ash St. in Fernandina Beach.
The patch is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 31. Visitors can pick out pumpkins to purchase and pose at photo stations set up outside the church, the Fernandina Beach News-Leader reported.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the historically Black congregation, which traces its roots in Fernandina Beach to the early 19th century.
Serena Peterson, who coordinates outreach for the church, and Roschnell Brown, a lay leader, worked alongside volunteers and staff on Tuesday, Oct. 6, to set up the grounds. The crew worked between rain showers to get the site ready for opening day.
The pumpkin patch draws help from beyond the church's own congregation, according to the News-Leader.
Upcoming community events: The Willow Wellness Fest returns to Fernandina Beach on Saturday, Oct. 17.
