The Fernandina Beach Rotary Club is expanding its annual Taste of Amelia from a one-day culinary crawl into a three-day weekend running Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 25.
Five events span the weekend.
The 39th annual celebration will cover food, wine, spirits and island history, according to the Fernandina Observer. All proceeds benefit education and scholarships for Nassau County students.
"We want visitors to experience the restaurants, history, culture and hospitality that make Amelia Island special while creating an event that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of local students," Bob Pollock, president of the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club, told the Fernandina Observer.
Friday Events Feature Pirates and Spirits
Friday, Oct. 23, kicks off with two options: a Sunset Pirate Voyage along the Amelia River or an evening at A1A Marlin & Barrel Craft Distillery. The distillery event includes spirit tastings, a tour of the working facility, a cocktail demonstration by Paul Lore and food pairings.
Saturday's Culinary Crawl a Perennial Sellout
Saturday, Oct. 24, features the centerpiece Taste of Amelia Culinary Crawl in the afternoon. Guests sample signature dishes from local restaurants while strolling Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach. The crawl has been a perennial sellout, the Observer reported.
That evening, a ZD Wines Premium Tasting moves to a downtown rooftop venue. The tasting will feature Napa Valley wines from the Silverado Trail paired with charcuterie and chef-prepared food selections.
Sunday Brunch Highlights Island History
Sunday, Oct. 25, wraps the weekend with brunch and a program at the Amelia Island Museum of History at 233 S. Third St. The event includes a museum tour and narrated stories about the island's past.
